THIS BLOG FOCUSES, FIRST, ON THE QUESTION WHY THE SERBIANS AND MILOSEVIC WERE MADE EXCLUSIVELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISINTEGRATION AND THE CRIMES COMMITTED DURING THE DISINTEGTRATION. I.E. IT IS QUESTION OF HOW AND WHY SUCH A HUGE MAJORITY OF WESTERN NEWS CONSUMERS ARRIVED AT THAT CONCLUSION AND THEN ACTED UPON IT IN A VARIETY OF WAYS, ONE OF THEM BEING ATTACKS ON THE ANYTHING BUT A PERSONAL SAINT, PETER HANDKE'S WORK, REALLY GANGED UP ON THE WORK.

Michael,
it's flattering that you would link to my work. As you know, I've been arguing that readers actually read Peter's work as opposed to blathering about it without having done so.

I would refer them to Flaubert's "Dictionary of Received Ideas."

Perhaps an updated version would include entries like these:

Peter Handke. I'm a great fan of his early work, but since he became obsessed with the former Yugoslavia he can't be trusted.

Slobodan Milosevic. Preface whatever you say with "Butcher of the Balkans," then repeat the phrase after you're done.

Respond as follows to anyone who asks that the rhetoric around the Serbs be reexamined -- Sure there was blame to share, but your whitewashing of the Serbs and Slobo is history most foul.
